Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User", "you") and SessionHunt ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account, signing in, submitting content, or otherwise using the SessionHunt platform available at sessionhunt.com and its subdomains (the "Service"), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated herein by reference.

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance. See Section 12 for more detail on changes.

2. Description of Service

SessionHunt is a community-curated platform for discovering and voting on sessions from tech conferences, meetups, and other professional events. The Service allows users to:

• Submit tech conference sessions for community discovery and voting
• Nominate and vote on upcoming tech events
• Browse and discover sessions curated by the community
• Claim organiser status for events they represent

Content on the platform is primarily user-generated. We do not independently verify the accuracy of submitted sessions, speaker details, or event information. We are not affiliated with any conference organiser, event venue, or speaker unless explicitly stated.

3. User Accounts

Eligibility. You must be at least 13 years of age to use SessionHunt. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that you meet this requirement. If you are between 13 and 18, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.

Registration. To access most features, you must create an account using a valid email address. We use passwordless authentication — a one-time code is sent to your email to verify your identity. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your email address current.

Account responsibility. You are solely responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Keep your sign-in access secure. If you suspect unauthorised access to your account, notify us immediately at legal@sessionhunt.com.

One account per person. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent moderation decisions, manipulate votes, or otherwise abuse the platform is prohibited.

4. User Content

Ownership. You retain all intellectual property rights in the content you submit to SessionHunt, including session titles, descriptions, speaker names, and nomination notes ("User Content").

Licence to SessionHunt. By submitting User Content, you grant SessionHunt a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable licence to store, display, reproduce, and distribute your content on the platform and in connection with the promotion of the Service. This licence exists solely to allow us to operate and improve the platform.

Your warranties. By submitting content, you represent and warrant that:

• You have the right to submit the content and to grant the licence above;
• The content does not infringe any third-party intellectual property, privacy, or other rights;
• When submitting a session on behalf of or describing a speaker, you have a legitimate basis to share that information publicly (e.g., the session is already publicly announced, or you are the speaker yourself);
• You will not submit private speaker or personal information without that person's consent.

Removal. We reserve the right to remove or edit any User Content that, in our sole discretion, violates these Terms, our community standards, or applicable law.

5. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to engage in any of the following:

• Spam and fake submissions — submitting fabricated, duplicate, or irrelevant sessions or events to manipulate discovery or rankings.
• Vote manipulation — using multiple accounts, bots, or coordinated schemes to artificially inflate or deflate vote counts.
• Impersonation — representing yourself as another person, organisation, conference, or event organiser that you are not authorised to represent.
• Scraping and automated access — crawling, scraping, or otherwise accessing the platform programmatically in a manner that places unreasonable load on our infrastructure, without our prior written consent.
• Harassment and abuse — using the platform to harass, threaten, or harm other users or individuals.
• Illegal activity — using the platform in violation of any applicable law or regulation.
• Circumventing security — attempting to access parts of the platform you are not authorised to access, or interfering with the platform's technical operation.

6. Content Moderation

SessionHunt is a moderated platform. We reserve the right, but not the obligation, to review, approve, reject, edit, or remove any User Content at any time, for any reason or no reason, without notice. Submitted sessions and events may be held in a pending state pending moderation review before appearing publicly.

Moderation decisions are made at our sole discretion. While we aim to be fair and consistent, moderator decisions are final. If you believe content was removed in error, you may contact us at legal@sessionhunt.com and we will review the matter in good faith.

7. Event Claims

SessionHunt allows event organisers to "claim" an event listing to indicate official representation. By submitting a claim, you represent and warrant that you are duly authorised to act on behalf of the event or organisation you are claiming.

False claims are strictly prohibited. Submitting a claim for an event you do not represent, or misrepresenting your authority to represent an event, is a material violation of these Terms and may result in immediate account suspension or permanent banning from the platform. We reserve the right to reverse any claim we determine to be fraudulent or unauthorised.

Legitimate organisers who discover an unauthorised claim on their event should contact legal@sessionhunt.com with evidence of their authority.

8. Intellectual Property

SessionHunt platform. The SessionHunt name, logo, platform design, software, and all related intellectual property belong to us and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of the platform without our express written permission.

User Content. As noted in Section 4, you retain ownership of User Content you submit. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of your content to us.

Feedback. If you provide us with suggestions, feedback, or ideas about the Service, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free licence to use that feedback without compensation or attribution to you.

9. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that:

• The Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free;
• Any session, event, or speaker information submitted by users is accurate, current, or complete;
• We have obtained the consent of any speaker or event organiser whose details appear on the platform — submitted content is provided by community members, not by us;
• Sessions listed will actually occur as described.

You use the platform and any information obtained from it at your own risk. SessionHunt is a discovery tool, not an authoritative event database.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, SESSIONHUNT AND ITS OPERATORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE.

IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU HAVE PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRIOR TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED INDIAN RUPEES (INR 100).

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

11. Termination

By you. You may delete your account at any time by visiting your profile settings or by emailing legal@sessionhunt.com. Upon deletion, your personal data will be removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

By us. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice, if we determine that you have violated these Terms, engaged in prohibited conduct, or if we have reasonable grounds to believe your account poses a risk to the platform or its users. Accounts suspended for Terms violations may be permanently banned.

Effect of termination. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Sections 4 (licence grant), 8, 9, 10, and 13 of these Terms survive termination.

12. Changes to Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify registered users by email or by a prominent notice on the platform. Your continued use of SessionHunt after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

If you do not agree to updated Terms, you should stop using the Service and may request account deletion.

13. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts located in India.
